The importance of checks...

When a BIRD-OUT^® Evolution system is installed, a few simple checks are needed. As soon as the first few metres are installed and the + and earth wires are connected to the electrifier unit, it is important to check that there is enough power along the line.
This should preferably be done with a joulemeter or, failing that, with a 10 kV tester. With the 10 kV tester, there is no way of quantifying the energy (the discomfort felt by the bird).
If checks show that there is no power at the start of the line, this means that the electrifier unit is not properly connected or that the earth connection is faulty. In this case, the earth should immediately be checked with one of the two instruments.
If the system is properly connected to earth, none of the tester displays should light up.
Any improvement of the earth connection will improve the efficiency of the BIRD-OUT^® Evolution system and will be measurable using the joulemeter.
Subsequently, we recommend checking the quality of the installation (conductors, insulators, connections, drain) by measuring the power at several points along the line:
a) if the values shown by the joulemeter are high and remain the same or are only slightly different, then the installation is functionning perfectly;
b) if values are low from the start to the end of the installation and do not vary too much, that means there is a major drain on the line (short circuit).
